Sneak Peak
When visiting potential colleges, it is always useful to get a tour of campus. However, most people don’t think to dig in any further and check out some of the areas where they will really be spending their time. Taking time to visit certain less-advertised parts of campus can make the difference when it comes to picturing where you will spend the next few years of your life. Here are some places to stop by:
- Local pizza place(s): It is always a good idea to try the on-campus food options, but sometimes it is also beneficial to stray away from the dining hall. Whether it be a late night study session or meeting with friends in between classes, you’ll want to know where to get the best pizza on or near campus.
- Cafes: There should be at least one place to get coffee on campus. Make it a goal to find not only the best place, but also the one that is most conveniently located between the dorms and your classes, so that you can sleep as late as possible but still grab a coffee before your morning class.
- Theatres: In college, theatres can add some excitement to your night. Not only movie theatres, but also theatres where you can see plays or attend concerts. Whether you’re into blockbusters or indie films, rock music or country, chances are there’s something for you nearby.
- Study spaces: Some people prefer to study in their rooms, while others find they are more productive if they find another spot. Whichever you are, chances are at some point during college, you will be looking for a place to study somewhere around campus. When visiting, get a feel for where you would want to be. Check out the library and local cafes as well and seek out any other hidden gems.
- Convenient stores: Not just convenience stores (although no one is saying not to scout out the nearest Wawa), but just any stores that are conveniently located where you can stop and grab milk or toothpaste or a movie for your date tonight.
