The African American Read In (AARI) started 27 years ago by Black Caucus – National Council of Teachers of English.

“The AARI is built on an ambitious yet confident premise; that a school and community reading event can be effective way to promote diversity in children’s literature, encourage young people to read, and shine a spotlight on African American authors.” -NCTE Council Chronicle

Brandywine Virtual Academy teachers are supporting the AARI for the second year. The teachers read African American Quilt stories and discussed on the relevance of the quilt in AA history.

We are going to host an online session on February 25th so check your email for more information!
