Weekly Update- February 23
Congratulations to 6th grader Ray Gracia, for becoming PVA’s first ever Scripps Spelling Bee School Champion.
Congratulations also to Khalid Abogourin and Usamah Brown who finished as the first and second runners up respectively. Ray will represent PVA at The District wide Spelling Bee on March 7th at The High School of the Future…Wish him luck!
Our first Senior Meeting of the New Year was held in the Virtual Office on Friday 2/20, The voting and nominations for the Senior Class officers was discussed. Seniors, if you missed it, make sure to email Ms. Schreiner (dschreiner@philasd.org) or Mr. Humes (daveh@cciu.org) for more information. We hope to see you this Friday at 2PM (March 6, 2015)!
Student Docent Program:
Our student docent program began at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, congratulations to the students chosen to participate: Kasi Whetts-Franks, Monaa Toles, Mona White, Javon Cunningham, Quanu Furbert, Sharneice Bazley, Nirvana Daniel, Tiara Crosby. We are really looking forward to our student led tours in March!
Course Enrollments:
Most of you have all your core courses added by now and should have finished your part A’s and started working on our part B’s. If not please contact your Teaching Assistant to discuss a plan on how to get on pace. It is almost Spring time (hard to imagine when it is freezing out) but we need to focus and finish out the year strong. June will be here before you know it!
We are glad to announce the reforming of our Chess Club. This will be hosted in the Learning Center (room 1078) on Wednesdays at 1PM–2:30PM.
This club is being hosted and run by Jacob Simmons one of our Seniors at PVA and all are encouraged to participate. Bring your A game! Look out for our Chess Club emails.
We have a field Trip to attend the Swan Lake Ballet this Thursday, 3/5 at the Academy of Music. Look out for your email invite or contact your Teaching Assistant to register to attend.
